I know it's random to post something at 5 something in the morning, but I can't sleep so why waste time tossing and turning on the bed? Might as well share a story with my dear readers. A meaningful story, I learned from my brother just on the last trip he came back to Penang :)
One day, there was an old man who decided to bring his 7 years old grandson for a journey around his village. Along he brought a young donkey, only 1 passenger can board at a time :)
Then he carried the boy and placed him on the donkey's back then said, "Now we are ready to go, Son."
After 15 minutes of travelling, they came to a fruit farm and all the farmers looked up and said among themselves, "Kanneh, this boy kau boh akai d, ah kong ah neh lau, koh mai ho ah kong ceh donkey, ah neh siao lian beh kia loh meh, ceh donkey pula..."
Translation: "WTH, this little boy is so inconsiderate and selfish for letting his old Grandpa walk by foot and he sits on the donkey. He's still so young and strong, he should be the one who's walking."
Having heard the harsh comment, the little boy quickly jumped down from the donkey and offered his grandfather the seat.
The old man smiled and felt pleased. Then he sat on the donkey and they carried on the journey.
After another 15 minutes of journey, they came by a ranch and the cowboys looked at them and one of them commented, "Apek, lu kau bo akai liao. Lu ho lu eh soon ah neh seh han kia loh, lu ka ki ceh donkey. Beh siu la lu...!"
Translation: "Hey old man! What's wrong with you? Your grandson is so small and weak, why are you sitting on a donkey and let a small child walk on feet? Selfish Grandfather!"
Having heard that harsh comment, the old man quickly came down from the donkey and said to his grandson. "Son, lets walk by foot together ." And the old man pulled the donkey along.
The last 15 minutes of the journey, they reached a coffee shop. And the village folks looked at them and giggled and said, "Lu lang kua, chit leh no leh lang ah neh gong. Oo donkey mai ceh, ki kia loh. Gong ka beh si.. Hahahha...!"
Translation: "Look how silly are these two villagers. They have a donkey but none of them want to board and walk on feet instead. What's the use of bringing a donkey along? Stupid."
And finally the old man said to his grandson.
"Look son, for everything you do in life, you will never be able to satisfy everyone around you. People will always choose to judge you the way they choose to see you, regardless of how much you have suffered and sacrificed for the best of everything. They will always have something to say about you and the things you do.
You cannnot please everyone in this world but so long that you think what is right for you, believe in yourself and stand strong. There is no time for you to doubt what others think and say for your life belongs entirely to you. Live it your way!" and he ended his wisdom with a smile.
Don't you think the story is very true and meaningful? I find it really inspirational in a way or somehow :)
